Ingredients
Scale
4 large ripe bananas, peeled and sliced
1/4 cup milk (dairy or non-dairy like almond milk)
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
Instructions
Peel and slice the ripe bananas. Place the slices in a freezer-safe bag or container. Freeze for at least 6 hours, or until completely solid.
Place the frozen banana slices, milk, and vanilla extract into a high-powered blender or food processor.
Start blending on low, stopping frequently to scrape down the sides. You may need to use the tamper if your machine has one.
Continue processing. The mixture will go from crumbly to thick, resembling soft-serve ice cream. This process takes about 3 to 5 minutes.
Serve immediately for a soft-serve texture. For a firmer texture, transfer the mixture to a freezer-safe container and freeze for an additional 1 to 2 hours before scooping.
Notes
For a richer flavor, use full-fat coconut milk instead of regular milk.
If you want a chocolate banana ice cream, add 2 tablespoons of unsweetened cocoa powder in step 2.
If the mixture is too thick to blend, add liquid one teaspoon at a time until the blades move freely.
