Make a rich and creamy spiked hot chocolate using bourbon and Irish cream, perfect for cozy winter nights or holiday gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups Whole Milk
  • 1/2 cup Heavy Cream
  • 4 ounces Semi-sweet or Dark Chocolate, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons Unsweetened Cocoa Powder
  • 2 tablespoons Granulated Sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 1/2 ounces Bourbon
  • 1 ounce Baileys Irish Cream
  • Whipped cream, for topping
  • Chocolate shavings, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Combine the milk, heavy cream, chopped chocolate, cocoa powder, sugar, and salt in a medium saucepan.
  2. Heat the mixture over medium heat, whisking constantly until the chocolate is completely melted and the mixture is smooth and hot. Do not let it boil.
  3. Remove the saucepan from the heat.
  4. Stir in the bourbon and Baileys Irish Cream until fully combined.
  5. Pour the boozy hot chocolate into mugs.
  6. Top each serving with whipped cream and a sprinkle of chocolate shavings.

Notes

  • For a hot chocolate bar idea, set out various toppings like marshmallows, cinnamon sticks, and different liqueurs.
  • If you prefer a different spirit, substitute the bourbon with dark rum or peppermint schnapps for a different flavor profile.
  • Use real melted chocolate instead of just cocoa powder for a more decadent chocolate drink experience.
