Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (21 ounce) can apple pie filling

Instructions

  2. Pour the apple pie filling into the bottom of the prepared baking dish. Do not drain the liquid.
  3. Sprinkle the dry yellow cake mix evenly over the apple layer. Do not mix the layers.
  4. Scatter the caramel bits evenly over the cake mix layer.
  5. Slowly drizzle the melted butter over the entire surface, aiming to cover the cake mix as much as possible.
  6. Bake for 45 to 55 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
  7. Let the dump cake cool slightly before serving warm.

Notes

  • For a slow cooker version, lightly grease a 6-quart slow cooker insert. Layer the ingredients as directed, then cook on low for 3 to 4 hours or on high for 1.5 to 2 hours.
  • Serve this easy apple dessert warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an extra indulgent experience.
  • You can substitute the yellow cake mix with butter pecan cake mix for a different flavor profile.
