Make these craveable Cheeseburger Egg Rolls for an easy appetizer or fun weeknight dinner. You get all the flavor of a classic cheeseburger—juicy beef, melted cheese, and tangy condiments—wrapped in a golden, crispy shell. We include instructions for deep-frying and air-frying.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons yellow mustard
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 24 egg roll wrappers
  • Water, for sealing
  • Vegetable oil, for frying (or cooking spray for air fryer)

Instructions

  1. Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef and chopped onion. Cook, breaking up the meat, until the beef is fully browned and the onion is soft. Drain off any excess grease.
  2. Stir in the salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
  3. Remove the skillet from the heat. Stir in the ketchup, mustard, and Worcestershire sauce until combined with the meat mixture. Let the mixture cool for 10 minutes.
  4. Stir the shredded cheddar cheese into the cooled beef mixture.
  5. Set up your assembly station: place a small bowl of water nearby, lay out the egg roll wrappers, and have the filling ready.
  6. Place about 2 tablespoons of the filling in the center of one egg roll wrapper, positioning it like a diamond with a corner pointing toward you.
  7. Fold the bottom corner up over the filling. Fold in the left and right corners toward the center.
  8. Moisten the top edge of the wrapper with water using your finger. Roll the wrapper up tightly away from you until sealed. Repeat with the remaining filling and wrappers.
  9. To Deep Fry: Heat 2 inches of vegetable oil in a deep pot to 350 degrees F. Carefully place 3-4 egg rolls into the hot oil, ensuring not to overcrowd the pot. Fry for 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy. Remove with a slotted spoon and place on a paper towel-lined plate.
  10. To Air Fry: Preheat your air fryer to 375 degrees F. Lightly spray the assembled egg rolls with cooking spray. Place them in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Cook for 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and crisp.
  11. Prepare the dipping sauce by whisking together 1/2 cup ketchup, 2 tablespoons yellow mustard, and 1 tablespoon pickle relish (optional).
  12. Serve the hot Cheeseburger Egg Rolls immediately with the special dipping sauce.

Notes

  • For an air fryer option, lightly spray the rolls with cooking spray before cooking.
  • If you want a tangier flavor, add 1/4 cup of finely chopped dill pickles to the cooled meat mixture.
  • You can prepare the filling ahead of time and store it in the refrigerator for up to two days before assembling the rolls.
