This foolproof cherry dump cake requires almost no effort. You simply layer cherry pie filling, dry cake mix, and butter to create a warm, gooey dessert with a buttery, crisp topping that tastes like homemade cobbler.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (21 ounce) can cherry pie filling
  • 1 (15.25 ounce) box yellow cake mix (do not mix)
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, cut into small slices

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. Pour the entire can of cherry pie filling into the prepared baking dish and spread it into an even layer.
  3. Sprinkle the dry yellow cake mix evenly over the top of the cherry filling. Do not stir or mix the layers.
  4. Arrange the slices of cold butter evenly over the dry cake mix layer.
  5. Bake for 45 to 55 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the cherry filling is bubbly around the edges.
  6. Remove from the oven and let it cool slightly before serving warm.

Notes

  • Serve this warm cherry dessert with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for the best experience.
  • For a different flavor, substitute the yellow cake mix with white or even chocolate cake mix.
  • If you want a slight crunch, sprinkle 1/2 cup of chopped pecans over the butter before baking.
