Make a stack of fluffy, golden chocolate chip pancakes quickly. This straightforward recipe uses common ingredients to create a satisfying homemade breakfast perfect for any morning.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon white sugar
  • 1 1/4 cups milk
  • 1 egg
  • 3 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Combine the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar in a large bowl. Whisk the dry ingredients together.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, egg, and melted butter.
  3. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined. Do not overmix; a few lumps are fine for fluffy pancakes.
  4. Gently fold in the chocolate chips.
  5. Heat a lightly oiled griddle or large non-stick skillet over medium heat. The surface is ready when a drop of water sizzles immediately.
  6. Pour or scoop the batter onto the griddle, using approximately 1/4 cup for each pancake.
  7. Cook for 2 to 3 minutes per side. Flip when bubbles appear on the surface and the edges look set.
  8. Cook the second side until golden brown.
  9. Serve immediately with your favorite toppings.

Notes

  • For extra fluffy pancakes, let the batter rest for 5 minutes before cooking.
  • Use buttermilk instead of regular milk for a slightly tangier flavor.
  • If you prefer gooey chocolate chips, stir half the chips into the batter and sprinkle the remaining half over the pancakes immediately after pouring them onto the griddle.
