Make perfectly crisp cinnamon sugar pecans using only five simple ingredients. This oven-baked recipe delivers a satisfying crunch, ideal for snacking, holiday food gifts, or topping salads.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups pecan halves
  • 1 large egg white
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 300 degrees Fahrenheit. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk the egg white until it is slightly frothy.
  3. Add the pecan halves to the egg white and toss until the nuts are evenly coated.
  4. In a separate small bowl, combine the granulated sugar, ground cinnamon, and salt.
  5. Pour the sugar and spice mixture over the coated pecans. Toss well until every pecan is covered with the cinnamon sugar coating.
  6. Spread the coated pecans in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet. Do not let them overlap.
  7. Bake for 30 to 40 minutes, stirring the pecans every 10 minutes to prevent burning and promote even crisping.
  8. Remove the pecans from the oven when they look dry and the coating is set.
  9. Let the pecans cool completely on the baking sheet. They will become crispier as they cool.
  10. Once cool, break apart any clusters and store them in an airtight container.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add 1/4 teaspoon of vanilla extract to the egg white before coating the pecans.
  • If you want a slightly darker, richer coating, substitute 1 tablespoon of the granulated sugar with light brown sugar.
  • These sweet roasted nuts are excellent crumbled over vanilla ice cream or yogurt.
