Make this rich, savory Creamy Parmesan Garlic Beef Bowtie Pasta for a satisfying weeknight dinner. This easy stovetop recipe combines ground beef and tender bowtie pasta in a luscious garlic Parmesan cream sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 3 teaspoons olive oil
  • 5 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 medium onion, diced
  • 8 ounces bowtie (farfalle) pasta
  • 1 1/2 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • Chopped fresh parsley, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cook the bowtie pasta according to package directions until al dente. Drain the pasta, reserving about 1/2 cup of the pasta water. Set the pasta aside.
  2. While the pasta cooks, heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the diced onion and cook until softened, about 3 minutes.
  3. Add the minced garlic to the skillet and cook for 1 minute until fragrant. Do not let the garlic burn.
  4. Add the ground beef to the skillet. Break the beef apart with a spoon and cook until it is fully browned. Drain off any excess grease.
  5. Pour the beef broth into the skillet with the beef and bring it to a simmer. Cook for 2 minutes, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the pan.
  6. Reduce the heat to low. Stir in the heavy cream. Let the sauce warm through for 2 minutes.
  7. Remove the skillet from the heat. Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese until the sauce is smooth and creamy. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
  8. Add the cooked bowtie pasta to the skillet with the sauce. Toss everything together until the pasta is fully coated. If the sauce seems too thick, add a splash of the reserved pasta water until you reach your desired consistency.
  9. Serve immediately. Garnish with fresh parsley or extra Parmesan cheese, if desired.

Notes

  • For an extra layer of flavor, use freshly grated Parmigiano Reggiano instead of pre-shredded cheese.
  • Add 1/4 teaspoon of red pepper flakes with the garlic for a touch of heat in your savory pasta dishes.
  • This recipe works well as a one pot pasta beef meal if you cook the pasta directly in the broth/cream mixture, adding extra liquid as needed.
