Make these rich, decadent Dubai Chocolate Balls at home without turning on the oven. This simple, no-bake recipe delivers a luxurious, bite-sized treat featuring a creamy pistachio center and a smooth chocolate coating, perfect for entertaining or gifting.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup shelled, unsalted pistachios
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cardamom
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 tablespoon heavy cream
  • 1 cup fine, crushed biscuits or graham crackers (for texture)
  • 12 ounces high-quality dark chocolate, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil
  • 1/4 cup shredded kataifi pastry, lightly toasted (optional, for crunch)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Pistachio Filling: In a food processor, combine the pistachios, powdered sugar, and cardamom. Pulse until the mixture resembles coarse sand.
  2. Add the softened butter and heavy cream to the food processor. Process until a smooth, thick paste forms. If the mixture is too dry, add cream 1/2 teaspoon at a time.
  3. Stir in the crushed biscuits (and toasted kataifi, if using) into the pistachio paste until just combined. This adds the signature texture.
  4. Roll the mixture into small balls, about 1 inch in diameter. Place the balls on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  5. Chill the balls in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to firm up completely. This step is crucial for easy dipping.
  6. Melt the Chocolate Coating: Place the chopped dark chocolate and coconut oil in a heatproof bowl set over a saucepan of simmering water (a double boiler). Stir gently until the chocolate is completely smooth. Remove from heat.
  7. Dip the chilled pistachio balls into the melted chocolate, ensuring they are fully coated. Use two forks to lift them out, allowing excess chocolate to drip off.
  8. Return the coated balls to the parchment-lined sheet. If desired, immediately sprinkle the tops with a few extra toasted kataifi threads or finely chopped pistachios for decoration.
  9. Refrigerate the Dubai Chocolate Balls for at least 1 hour, or until the chocolate shell is completely set.

Notes

  • For a glossy shell, ensure your melted chocolate is smooth and do not let any water splash into it.
  • If you cannot find kataifi, you can substitute with finely crushed cornflakes for a similar crunch element.
  • These gourmet chocolate treats store well in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
