Make this easy, creamy black bean dip in just five minutes. It is a healthy, plant-based appetizer perfect for parties or a quick snack.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (15-ounce) can black beans, rinsed and drained
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro leaves
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt, or to taste
  • Pinch of cayenne pepper (optional, for spice)
  • 12 tablespoons water (for thinning, if needed)

Instructions

  1. Place the rinsed and drained black beans, cilantro, lime juice, garlic, cumin, salt, and cayenne pepper (if using) into a food processor.
  2. Process the ingredients until the mixture becomes smooth and creamy. Stop and scrape down the sides as necessary.
  3. If the dip is too thick, add water one tablespoon at a time while processing until you reach your desired consistency.
  4. Taste the dip and adjust salt or lime juice as needed.
  5. Transfer the dip to a serving bowl. Serve immediately with tortilla chips or fresh vegetables.

Notes

  • For a smoother texture, you can use a high-speed blender.
  • This dip tastes best when served fresh, but you can make it ahead and store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days.
  • Add a small amount of diced jalapeño during processing if you want a spicier black bean dip.
