Make a tender, flavorful slow cooker turkey breast with minimal effort. This crock pot turkey breast recipe delivers juicy meat perfect for weeknight dinners or stress-free holiday feasts, freeing up your oven space.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (4-6 pound) bone-in or boneless turkey breast
  • 1 tablespoon dried thyme
  • 1 tablespoon dried rosemary
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup chicken broth or apple cider
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Instructions

  1. Pat the turkey breast dry using paper towels. This helps the seasonings stick.
  2. In a small bowl, mix together the thyme, rosemary, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper to create the herb rub.
  3. Rub the olive oil all over the turkey breast. Then, thoroughly coat the entire surface of the turkey with the herb rub mixture.
  4. Pour the chicken broth (or apple cider) and water into the bottom of your slow cooker.
  5. Place the seasoned turkey breast skin-side up in the slow cooker.
  6. Cover the slow cooker and cook on LOW for 5 to 7 hours, or on HIGH for 3 to 4 hours. Cooking time depends on the size and whether it is bone-in or boneless.
  7. The turkey is done when a meat thermometer inserted into the thickest part reads 165 degrees Fahrenheit.
  8. Carefully remove the turkey breast from the slow cooker and let it rest on a cutting board, loosely tented with foil, for 15 minutes before slicing.
  9. Use the liquid remaining in the slow cooker to make a simple gravy if desired.

Notes

  • For a cranberry turkey breast slow cooker variation, add 1 cup of fresh or frozen cranberries to the liquid at the bottom of the slow cooker before cooking.
  • If you are using a boneless turkey breast slow cooker roast, reduce the cooking time by about 30 minutes.
  • This hands off turkey dinner method is excellent for freeing up oven space during Thanksgiving or Christmas.
