Make this simple, creamy smoked salmon dip quickly for your next party or brunch. It uses classic flavors like dill and lemon.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 4 ounces smoked salmon, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons fresh dill, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest
  • 1/4 cup red onion, finely minced
  • 1 tablespoon capers, drained and chopped (optional)
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Place the softened cream cheese in a medium bowl.
  2. Add the chopped smoked salmon, dill, lemon juice, lemon zest, red onion, capers (if using), and black pepper to the bowl.
  3. Use a hand mixer or a sturdy spoon to mix all ingredients until they are just combined and the dip is creamy. Do not overmix.
  4. Taste the dip and adjust seasoning if needed.
  5. Cover the bowl and chill the smoked salmon dip for at least 30 minutes before serving to allow flavors to meld.
  6. Serve cold with crackers, bagel chips, or fresh vegetables.

Notes

  • For a smoother texture, pulse the ingredients in a food processor until just combined.
  • You can prepare this dip up to one day ahead and store it covered in the refrigerator.
  • If you like a stronger onion flavor, add a teaspoon of dried minced onion along with the fresh onion.
